One of the cathedral's celebrated former choristers, Eurovision winner, Eimear Quinn, now has here own Official Web Page. Under construction though as all are.
21/10/1997As the chimes of the cathedral clock have very pleasantly resumed their melodious duty in the last few days, it is apt to refer to the Letters to the Editor of 14 December 1996 in the The Irish Times in which, under Christ Church Bell Ringers, Leslie Taylor clarified that it was the responsibility of the bell ringers and not the vergers for not ringing the bells 'merrily enough' at the birth of the Prince of Wales in 1688!

One of the techniques used was 360 degree photos. Here is the technology put to use for Christ Church, run by a group called Dublin VR (Virtual Reality to the uninitiated). Please be patient!

The list of services and events for the week beginning 14 September has just been added and will hopefully continue from now on. Comments to email@cccdub.ie are always welcome.
Also Dr Raymond Gillespie, the 1997 Joe Coady Lecturer, is now in colour!
The Archives Page has also been updated including a preliminary look at the Christ Church Lecture Series. A page of its own to follow.
07/09/1997 Here is André Jute's opinion on the performance of the Cathedral Choir at the The West Cork Chamber Music Festival: "Duley's choir is [a] well-regulated machine which, like the best of the soloists, always make it seem so easy anyone can do it; they must work incredibly hard behind closed doors".
05/09/1997 Updated both Cathedral Choir personnel list and that of the Girls' Choir.
03/09/1997 Added link to Onsite Ireland which includes the House of the Future Project, one of the designers of which was Ruth O'Herlihy, a choir member.

29/04/1997Our counter's gone down again, so here's a page of interesting ones to keep people occupied.
18/04/1997 To inform readers, the Easter Vestry was held on Thursday 17th April,at which 9 lay members of the Board were appointed. These were Judge Gerard Buchanan, Dr Kenneth Milne, Mr Dáithí Ó Maolchoille, Mr Mervyn Percival, Mr Terence Read, Mr Desmond Kinsella, Ms Helen Roycroft, Mrs Lesley Whiteside and Mr Stuart Kinsella. (The Church of Ireland Directory listing of Board members for the beginning of the year is listed for comparison).Other things that have been updated are the music and tourism links. Even our NEW sign is new!
14/04/1997Have removed guestbook and hope to have another soon. Have installed a working but basic counter to keep track of numbers (since Cyberhits have been down for about a month). The figure I'm working from is 2400 (assuming that is has moved up by at least 2300 in a month).
06/04/1997Added a guestbook at Dreambook, signable here. Have also searched in vain for as good a free counter as Cyberhits. Any suggestions?
04/04/1997 Updated cathedral's tourist links page and included link to the Friends of Christ Church Oxford page which they have just started to assemble. (They visit the cathedral on Sunday 20 April). Also included an extra biography in the Organists page.
29/03/1997 Added the Dean's April Church Review notes and updated archives page.
28/03/1997 All those interested should make a note in their diaries for the Easter Vestry which will be held at 7.00pm on 17 April after evensong. The Dean has already referred to some changes e.g. December 1996 Review and the basics of the statutes which form the cathedral's constitution are already online (although admittedly having undergone considerable changes since 1902). Also please bear with us regarding our broken counter!
21/03/1997Apologies for the counter being offline for so long. Cyberhits are trying to fix it. Some pictures have also been moved to another server. Hope this does not slow things down. We'd much appreciate it if anyone was prepared to host picture files on their web allocation which comes with most email/web access accounts (which to be honest few people ever use). Remember the cathedral is always contactable at email@cccdub.ie
11/03/1997 Added news of the Joe Coady Memorial Lecture under Friends Events. It is on in the cathedral on Tuesday 18 March at 8pm, so make a date in your diaries.
25/02/1997 Added our namesake Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford to both the links to other cathedrals and the Dean's miscellaneous links. On a point of interest both Dublin and Waterford cathedrals had very similar Viking origins, unfortunately, to make way for an new 18th century cathedral in Waterford, they filled the crypt with barrels of gunpowder and blew up the medieval building!
23/02/1997Added the Dean's Church Review for March.
21/02/1997 Considerable amount of updating done. Firstly updated the choir personnel list with the addition of four new members, bringing the numbers back up to 25.Also included some new links in the tourism page. The archives pages also has some additions.MusicBase have noticed us and have agreed to include us on their next news update and the music links page has been updated accordingly. The history page has had some sections added in the form of a links page which should allow the inclusion of all sorts of material of interest. Finally the cathedral personnel page has been updated.

06/02/1997Here are two puzzles which should while away the time! Tiles and Lights.
04/02/1997 The choir personnel page has been updated, as has the music links page. The History page has also been revised, with the addition of an up-to-date publication schedule of the ancillary volumes, and Adrian Empey's review of the proctor's accounts. This is taken from Vol. 19, No. 1 (Spring 1996) of Search - A Church of Ireland Journal and it is so complimentary that we've printed Adrian's full title!
29/01/1997Included here are domain name extensions for working out the less obvious countries. Out of curiosity, we are the only cathedral listed under the Westminster Abbey Links Page.
28/01/1997 Added some links to the choir recordings page. Also added the February Review. Just a reminder that the counter can be clicked on to give fascinating statistical information about the webpage. The Irish Times now have a searchable archive from 1/1/1996 and included here is a search for cathedral related subjects.
26/01/1997We've got a working modem again, so updates will begin appearing again. (You may have noticed that the weekly service sheets were not being uploaded.) Secondly, our counter is working once again (if a little slower). Statistical information can be gleaned by clicking on the counter. (This had been running and a history existed, but in order to reset the counter to the correct number, the history had to be lost.)
09/01/1997Apologies for the strange low numbers appearing on our counter, but unfortunately Cyberhits, the server which we use was hacked. It should be back to normal soon, but in the meantime just add 1040 to the number shown!
03/01/1997 The Weekly Service List is online now, as is the Dean's January Review of events. We are still experiencing a few hitches as regards modems, but hope to have them sorted out soon.
