WHY CHARGE?After considerable thought the Board of Christ Church cathedral decided that visitors would be asked to pay an entry charge. There are huge costs involved in running this beautiful place on a day-to-day basis and its preservation for the future. Its costs up to €100 each hour to pay for the Cathedrals' lighting, heating, choirs and organists, preparation of services, the preservation of the historic monuments, and stained glass, not forgetting the security of our visitors. DON'T YOU GET HELP FROM CENTRAL CHURCH FUNDS OR GOVERNMENT? WHAT IF WE WANT TO ATTEND A SERVICE? IS CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL THE ONLY CATHEDRAL THAT MAKES A CHARGE? WHY SHOULD MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF IRELAND HAVE TO PAY? We hope this explanation may have gone some way to help you understand why we had to make the decision to charge visitors to Christ Church Cathedral Dublin. |
