REVIEW Said to be the first collection of its kind, the disc constitutes a varied, historical selection of music with Irish connections, most of it specifically with the Protestant Cathedral. Thomas Bateson was organist there in 1609 and his Holy, Lord God Almighty is a fine and rare work, as is Charles Woods Tis the day of resurrection. Good choral blend in the quieter music; excellent organ playing throughout. Review by John B. Steane" |
