WHY SUPPORT YOUR CATHEDRAL? The cathedral's financial needs will not be met by any one constituency (i.e. private companies, trusts, individuals, or parishes) but the support from each group is inter-dependent. Before we can successfully seek support from outside, we must show that we have the support of the diocesan parishes and those who are interested in the conservation and development of this city. A strong and enthusiastic response now will greatly influence what we can ask of others.
The present appeal, Christ Church 2000, has the joint patronage of both the Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland Archbishops of Dublin. The importance of the cathedral extends well beyond the confines of one denomination. The need is urgent. The wiring has been condemned as "a potential fire hazard and danger to life and property". The stonework is crumbling and many of the windows are in danger of simply 'caving in'. We must ensure that not only is the cathedral safeguarded against ruination but is also developed to its full potential for future generations. Please give this matter your heartfelt consideration and give whatever you can now or over the next five years. Please direct all enquiries/donations to: |
