Welcome Desk
Visitors' impressions of Christ Church can be swayed by one thing more than any other - the welcome they receive at the entrance door. Above all, it is a warm welcome that matters, not an admission fee. The Welcome Desk has played a pivotal role in greeting visitors in recent years but the number of helpers is very limited and we have a great opportunity now to become more involved in the daily life of the cathedral. Of course, it is not always an entirely stress-free job and one may have to draw on all one's reserves of diplomacy and firmness! It is imperative that there is more than one person on duty - one sitting at the desk, one standing nearby and the third supervising the building and the crypt. Perhaps we might even aspire to providing guides, as there are no designated cathedral guides.
