THE BELLS OF CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL, DUBLIN
The cathedral has a complement of 19 bronze bells which are rung
by hand by a team of ringers. The bells are rung twice on Sunday
to announce services, while on Fridays the ringers practice the
art of change-ringing.
Christ Church has the greatest number of bells available for this
art in the world. The first bells were cast for Christ Church in
the early 15th century, while the society of ringers has been in
existence since 1670.
Vacancies exist for four trainees. This is a voluntary role, and
open to any fit person.
Anyone wishing to be considered for training as a ringer should
contact the Ringing Master, Leslie Taylor on 087 7940587.
